Pedro Alvarez has been one of their brightest prospects for three years now. The problem with him has been that he strikes out every three at bats or so.
Yesterday, he hit homeruns in each of the Pirates' games and in a part time role now has four this month.
The Bucs have nothing to lose. Give Alvarez 550 at bats and see what happens. If he is a bust, trade or release him. But I have a feeling the guy would hit 30 homeruns for a club that sorely needs a slugger in there every day.
