Kershaw is now 1-4 with an ERA of 5.20 in 45 career post-season innings.
Kershaw is the greatest regular season pitcher of this generation, much like Greg Maddux may have been the best in the previous one. Maddux was not a big post-season performer, either.
It takes a special breed of pitcher to succeed in October. Jack Morris had it. Orel Hershiser had it. Dave Stewart had it. Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez had it. Out of the bullpen, Mariano Rivera had it. Kershaw joins the list of otherwise outstanding hurlers that do not have it.
The Dodgers better hope this series against the Cardinals doesn't come down to Kershaw in a decisive game.
And can we all stop with the Kershaw-Koufax comparisons once-and-for-all.
